Interview Trip to Cedar Hill Baptist Church near Grand Cane, Louisiana

There were nine of us that went to meet with the members of Cedar Hill Baptist Church on May 11.

We met with the pastor, C. L. Bryant, and some key members of the building program for a noon meeting at the Bed and Breakfast in Grand Cane. We shared our thoughts and expectations for our group to come in July and the church members shared their vision and beliefs on completing what has been started for their new church building at a new location.

After the noon meeting, we looked at possible eating sites for our group during the week that we construct the building. We also visited the church building where they are now serving and the construction site that already had the concrete floor in place. The pastor informed us of a planned evening meeting with several key members of the church and a meal would be part of the meeting.

Following the meal, we got acquainted with approximately 12 additional members of the church. The Church Builder members shared what we try to accomplish during the week that we are on-site and the local church members shared their excitement concerning their involvement for their future building.

We concluded the meeting with full assurance that this is where God wants us this year. We believe that this year will be a very exciting year for Church Builders. The building is just our size and the congregation will be a blessing to us as they work with us and as we worship with them.

Church Builders will indeed remember this project in the years to come as we recall where God has led our group.

Hope to see you in Grand Cane, Louisiana in July.

Sincerely,

Fred Cross

A Word from Wes

Cedar Hills Baptist Church was established 126 yrs ago in 1883. At present time,

this church is not very accessible to new membership. To improve accessibility, the

pastor, Rev. C.L.Bryant, and the congregation had a vision to build a new facility.

God led them to be able to purchase land, 3 1/2 acres, on a main road, Hwy. 84, between

Mansfield and Logansport . This land has been paid in full along with a foundation that

was poured, approximately 3 months ago. Bro. Bryant has assured Church Builders

that they have funds ready available for the purchasing of all materials needed for our

part of the building project.

They are in process of a fundraiser that will enable them to have enough money to finish the project after we are finished. Depending on how successful the fundraiser turns out, if need be, the local bank has agreed to supply money, in form of a loan, to help them finish building.

They had enough faith to pour slab, knowing that God would supply the resources needed to finish the project. Let’s join them in prayer that God will supply ALL that they need!!

This congregation has been short on funds but long on Faith!!!

Dear Kitchen Kuties,

The time is quickly approaching for us to gather together and allow The Lord Our God to show up in all His power and glory. He has truly provided a wonderful kitchen for us this year. Its the biggest kitchen I can ever remember having. The walk-in refrigerator and freezer are big enough to hold prayer meeting in...........but it might get a little cold!!

This year we are going to try to buy only enough groceries for the first 5 meals. We do not want to have alot of waste or have to find somewhere to take it if we don't use it. We will all be so spread out this year and driving a long distance so will need to see what effect that will have on our evening meals.
If any of you already know what area you want to work in, in the kitchen you can email me and let me know. This year we need someone else to lead our morning devotions for the kitchen. Frances will not be able to do it this year and we will miss her, but God has someone else already in mind, so just let me know who that someone is. You can call me or email me.

Please be in prayer for this project and all the details that need to be taken care of. I am bringing my roaster, but think we will only need three more for this year.

If you think of something or have any questions, please let me know, because it takes all of us thinking and brainstorming for all of this to come together. Thank you sweet ladies for your faithfulness and servants hearts to serve others.

All for the sake of Christ,
Janine

Comments from Clifton

I am excited about going to Grand Cane. This looks like a fun trip and we are so glad God provided us a place to go for this summer.

I visited by phone with Bro. Bryant, conducting an “interview” to give my opinion in the decision, and I am totally convinced that God has His hand on this man and his people.  Bro. Bryant not only preaches the truth, I believe he also lives it.

I am looking forward to meeting and getting to know our brothers and sisters at Cedar Hill Baptist Church .  It is great to be able to join forces with a multi-cultural church, predominately black congregation in building their church by erecting their structure.

The building is great!! It has almost 10,000 sq. ft in the building. But NO 20’ sanctuary walls, only 12’ tall. Not a 10/12 pitch roof on the sanctuary, only 5/12. No second story. Isn’t that great!!?

But there is one thing that I AM concerned with. The sanctuary is surrounded on EVERY side with rooms, which is a good thing, but it will require a lot more time to layout walls.

So, for those who can, I am asking anyone that is a part of the Early Crew, to come and be ready to start laying out the walls on WEDNESDAY, July 15 instead of starting Thursday like we usually do. Of course, just come when you can, it’ll all work out, just if you CAN come early, please do!! We may have to work all day Saturday if we don’t get it done before then.  Please either call  or e-mail me @ This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and let me know WHEN you will be there if you are coming as part of the early crew!!  Thanks!!

Then, on Sunday July 19th, bring a lawn chair (if you can) and join us as we gather together on the slab.   At 6:30 pm, we will begin with praise and worship of the Most High God followed by a time of inspiration and instructions to prepare us for the week. A lot of meeting new “family” and visiting “family” from years past goes on at this time too!!

Come join me and my family at our yearly Church Builder Family Reunion!!!

In Union with Christ,

Clifton
