A little about us:

Baptist Church Builders of Texas   (Church Builders for short) is a group of Christians, who, by God’s leading, go together each summer and construct one church building for a needy church somewhere in the United States.

We also do other projects throughout the year.

Our group is a little different than most.  We are a family oriented group that takes projects that most groups won't touch.  Most construction groups require THEIR specific plans, but we do not.  We want the church to design the plans that will best suit their needs.   We have some plans and ideas that we can suggest, but ultimately, it is up to the church.  But please note, we DO NOT come in after someone else has raised a metal building and finish it out.

We are geared to start from the slab up.  We raise the walls, set the trusses, deck and put on felt/shingles, put on the exterior siding or get it ready for brick, install windows/doors, install the soffit and fascia, do electrical wiring, help with the duct work for air conditioning, build the "stage" or platform/baptistery/choir loft, build cabinets, and we even insulate and sheetrock and have even taped, bedded and painted in a few cases.

We DO NOT GUARANTEE any stage of work to be done, we only offer. 5 days of work by our Main Crew, whatever size that turns out to be. We are not responsible for delays caused by weather, material shortage, ate inspections, or things not being ready when we arrive.

We ARE set in stone when we go to do a project.  So far it has worked for us to have our main crew the 3rd FULL week in July.

An “Early Crew” will come the week before, usually beginning work on Thursday to lay out walls, build corners and tees, and make sure the materials and equipment needed is on site among other things.

On Sunday morning, all who have arrived join the local body in worship at their present facilities for the morning service, but for the evening service, we ask them to join us for “Meet You on the Slab” Sunday night at 6:30. This is a time of Inspiration and Instructions led by Church Builders.  For those who have registered already, they may pick up their name tags and purchase a t-shirt and other available items and get ready for a wonderful evening in preparation for Monday morning.  Others needing to register can do so under our big tent.

Each morning, work begins after the 7:00 am morning devotional.  Monday morning is a time no one wants to miss.  Walls go up quickly and it looks like ants busy at their work.  It is a great time to see God working miraculously through His children.

The Kitchen crew soon begins gathering at the appointed place to start their work, stopping around 9:00 am for their devotional.   Two home-cooked meals are prepared each day, and it takes many helping hands to accomplish this monumental task.  We praise God for our Kitchen Team Leader, Janine Williams, and her wonderful helpers, as they provide us with fabulous food all week.

Our group also provides our own accommodations (we stay in motels and RV Parks) so that the church isn't out anything...all we ask is:   that you have your land paid for, have plans that have been approved, licenses obtained, inspectors lined up for that week, have financing in place (if necessary) and have a slab down and materials on site when we arrive.

We will need the Chairman of your Building Committee or someone to acting as the Project Leader to work closely with us to have preparations ready for our arrival.  We never ask your church to pay for anything for our group… we want you to use that money to help pay for materials for your building.  God will supply our needs.

Now that you know a little about our group, here is what you need to do:

First, CLICK ON  the APPLICATION button, and fill out the application and send one page of the basic floor plans.  Not the whole set of plans, just a sketch.  Get that to us and let us take a look at it.  We all pray about it.

Then, we will call and visit with you for more information.  And if things look favorable, we will ask you to send us a full set of plans if you have them. If you do not have a finished set, we will encourage you to get them drawn and stamped for approval.

Next, we continue to visit with you over phone or by e-mail.  If we are feeling strongly that this could possibly be where God is leading us to, we will schedule an on-site visit by our leadership team.

We would at that time meet with a building committee along with Pastor and other leadership.  We visit hotels, RV parks to get information for our group.  We  look at any school or other church kitchen that we might be able to rent for that week.  We pray and ask God to show us whether or not if this is where we will go.  Most of the time, while we are there, God allows us to tell the church what the decision is.  Sometimes, we have to call back with our answer.

It is all done in God’s timing and with His guidance.  Sometimes your project does not “fit” our main group for our summer project, but will work for a side project in the fall or spring.  And then sometimes, God leads us to just help direct you to others who can help you.  We want to help everyone who applies, but God has not asked us to do that, He is working in us as we follow His leadership in the project He provides for us.

The projects from the past two years have websites that you can go to and look at and see their buildings and our group when we were there.

The 2007 project was in Galloway OH in 2007 in which we raised a building with over 7,000 sq. ft in it.  They have well documented their trip on their website www.cng.org Click on BUILDING then on PICTURES.  Page 6 is when our early crew arrives.  Page 9 is where we leave.   We had approx. 200 Church Builders and over 75 local members working on the project during the week we were there.

In 2008, 300 Church Builders traveled to Trenton , Texas to work with about 75 or so local folks erect the structure for Cornerstone Baptist Church .  This building was difficult in that the sanctuary had 20’ walls and the roof on the sanctuary was 10/12.  The educational part was two story that had trusses that ended up being built different than was expected and turned out taking longer.  Their website is www.cbcfellowship.org Once you get there, click on

View Cornerstone Building Plans / Status / Pics  (just above the HOME  and WELCOME buttons on the upper left of their home page.)  Once there, click on View Status Page in the bottom left corner.   Buttons with dates are listed and Church Builders photos begin (I believe) on 7/ 21 and end on 7 / 25

We have DVD’s available from past years projects, just call or e-mail us and ask for one.  Go to the contact page for more information.
